Wedding Bells

Posted by Susan on Saturday, July 28, 2012 in , , , ,
Okay this layout was created for the July 2012 Sketch Challenge over at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine. And yes, it's another Twilight themed layout - in this case wedding photos from the wedding of Edward & Bella.

I had always wanted to do a wedding layout that had drop down pearls swinging from a cardstock punched border, so I decided to try and incorporate that in.

It was also my first time trying a label. I used a number of different stamps, glimmer mists, inks and techniques to try and produce something that fit. In the end I think it worked out well, but I'm still trying to grasp the style that suits the tags and glimmer mist the most.

One of the really fun things I liked about this layout was the invitation/envelope in the corner. I actually found a picture of the wedding invitation they used in the movie, so I sized it down, printed it off, and formatted it a bit to create a realistic looking invitation inside the envelope. It kind of serves as the journaling for this layout as well. Here's a picture of the invitation open:

So much fun! Remember to click on these images if you'd like to see the larger version :D  Thanks for viewing.

Blue Christmas

Posted by Susan on Friday, July 27, 2012 in ,
I was playing around with some Christmas paper scraps and came up with this design. Another really fast card layout, the only time consuming thing is the folded flower on top.

This card uses some of the fabulous paper from the TPC Studio Winter Blues line. I just love the paper.

Jolly Old Fellow

This card was so quick and easy to make. Just some cardstock, an embossing folder, and a few square punches and we're done!  If you find yourself in need of a fast Christmas card, this one is definitely for you.

To give credit - this is not my design. This is a scraplift I saw on either Splitcoast or Scrapbook.com - unfortunately I cannot remember where.

More Christmas Cards

Posted by Susan on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in ,
Believe it or not, I'm almost done creating all my Christmas Cards for this season. I have a few finishing touches to put on them, but I'll do that once all the main designs are done. Here are two of the newest designs.

With this first card I was trying to create a really classic look, as I had purchased some beautiful fabric like white paper. Unfortunately the stamp image I was going to use didn't emboss well in gold, so I had to alter my original plan - and this was the result. I like it, but it seems to still be missing something. The Spellbinders venetian border die cut however, is gorgeous, if a bit labour intensive trying to use.

I bought these mitten die cuts last year and never got to use them. I think they're super cute, and will probably use them on some more cards in the future :D

A View on Christmas

Just finished this one off as a test trial. I'm going to make a few more of this one I think, but I need to pick up some more white ribbon first.

Christmas in July

Posted by Susan on Wednesday, July 04, 2012 in ,
I started my Christmas cards early this year in order to make the July 15th Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine submission deadline. They had a call out for Christmas cards, so I decided to put those ahead of Halloween, since I still have a ton of time for both. And, bright side, I will have all my Christmas cards done by December - no stress!

Here are two of the first sets

This was a more simple card that took significant advantage of a Sizzix embossing folder for the pattern on the left hand side.

This card turned out much better than I was expecting. I used complimentary paper from the Stampin' Up Christmas pack they had out a while ago, but what makes this card really pop I think is the tinsel ribbon from the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found collection. It's just soooooo Christmassy!

Can't wait to send these out.  Hopefully more to come in the next few days as I experiment.
