Inspiration Wednesday - Urban NYC

Posted by Susan on Monday, May 18, 2015 in ,
I'm not sure this turned out completely as I envisioned. I might have surpassed grunge and gone straight to messy.  The cool thing about this page is the memorabilia underneath that in some places is still poking through. I used a few tickets of events I attended in NYC my last year of High School (so they're almost 25 years old now, that's how long I've been hording them). It was nice to add them to some art and make use of them.

Inspiration Wednesday - Unicorn Girl

Posted by Susan on Sunday, May 17, 2015 in ,
Week 9 of Inspiration Wednesday started out as a hot mess for me, but eventually inspired the title :D  My first layer of color was just too much color, too bright, and frankly I almost gesso'd over the whole thing and started over. But, I kept going, working to layer and tone down the rainbow of layer one, and I'm glad I did.

So what the title "Unicorn Girl"? Because based on the first layer I honestly thought I was channeling my inner Unicorn and farting out rainbows, the colors were SOOOOOO loud! But I learned my lesson to not give up and keep at it to see if you can create something out of it! In this case, I think the exercise was a success.

Inspiration Wednesday - Creating Art

Posted by Susan on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in ,
So I'm behind on my Inspiration Wednesday projects. We're about to get week 10 and I've just finished week 8. With any luck I'll be all caught up this week though. I think I found week 8 to be a bit of a challenge so that might explain why it took me so long to finish.

I've called it "Creating Art" and I hope that's what I'm doing here. I still don't know if I'm confident enough to call it that, but I am pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

Creative Cupcake Tag

Posted by Susan on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in ,
Another birthday....another tag :D  This one was a little last minute, and didn't turn out as well as I would have liked. I really need to get in the habit of prepping some "stock" of cards and tags so that I don't need to rush when I find myself in need.

Wild About the Birthday Boy

Posted by Susan on Sunday, May 10, 2015 in ,
As a parent of a grade school boy, I end up attending a good number of little boy birthday parties. Well, little boys don't really care about home made cards, if they care about cards at all. So, instead of making cards I decided to keep it simple and just make some cute birthday tags to attach to gifts.

Here's the first:
